We’re all about supporting our independent businesses, so we decided to look into some remarkable independent restaurants in Birmingham and tell you all about their vegetarian and vegan options.
In the fine dining sector, The Wilderness stood out to us as a brilliant place to visit for a vegetarian meal. Owned and ran by Alex Claridge, The Wilderness is a rock and roll fine dining experience! It features modern British food, which aims to excite, provoke and most importantly – taste delicious!
The vegetarian or vegan menu is available providing it is requested upon booking and offers a wide range of options such as apple and cheddar; baby radish and seaweed hollandaise; 64-degree yolk with asparagus; beetroot, apple and quail egg and buttermilk sponge with fennel and meadowsweet – amongst many other delicious dishes.
Vegetables are placed at the centre of dishes, to create a journey and celebration of flavours!

Based in its namesake, Harborne Kitchen is described as an informal neighbourhood restaurant which provides modern British cuisine. It offers a contemporary and playful, inviting and exciting culinary experience.
The menu was driven by a desire to discover and create the delicious and the enticing!
Vegetarian and vegan meals are available, as dairy can be removed from dishes to make them vegan. The entire tasting menu is accompanied with wine pairings – which is excellent news for anyone who really enjoys a glass of wine with food to create a unique experience.
The menu includes sourdough and snacks; miso baby gem and lovage; roscoff onion; king oyster mushroom curry; BBQ celeriac steak and panna cotta passionfruit and macadamia nut – amongst many other options.

Zindiya Streatery is an immersive Indian experience in a casual and fun environment. The interior is colourful, distinctive and very different from any other Indian restaurants that we generally see.
The streatery and bar was created by husband and wife team – Ajay and Shivani Kenth.
Around half of the standard menu is vegetarian, in which items can easily be made vegan. There is also a separate vegan menu available for use.
The menu includes Pani Puri; Chole Bahture; Aloo Puri; Chocolate Gol Gappe and Falooda.
