In Birmingham, we’re lucky enough to have countless fine dining restaurants calling our city home.

Although not all the restaurants have been lucky enough to receive a Michelin Star yet, the quality of the fine dining restaurants in Birmingham in undeniable, and the extraordinary talent of the chefs that run them is palpable and undeniable.
Here at Breslins, we’ve researched fine dining restaurants and been lucky enough to visit a few. We have compiled a list of six of our favourites that you must try, next time you are looking for a great fine dining experience!
Restaurant Folium is a modern British fine dining restaurant, based in the Jewellery Quarter on Caroline Street. The restaurant is co-owned and run by Ben Tesh and partner, Lucy Hanlon. It opened in November 2017 and has adopted a cooking style which is all about simple, clean flavours, created from high quality ingredients from sustainable and ethical suppliers.
The menu is everchanging, depending on the ingredients that have been obtained on the day.
Reviews compliment the quality of the food copiously, with many claiming that the food is the best they’ve enjoyed in Birmingham!
Adams is a contemporary British fine dining establishment, run by husband and wife team Adam and Natasha. The dining area is intimate and stylish, and the food is created with the aim to excite and enthuse guests with accurate cooking of quality ingredients.
Owner Adam Stokes is an accredited chef, having received a Michelin Star, among many other awards.
Based on Waterloo Street, the restaurant is at the heart of the Colmore Business District. A tasting menu, a 3-course menu and a wine menu are all on offer.
The quality of both food and service have been complimented repeatedly in reviews – showing the all-round great experience that you can enjoy at Adams!
Carter’s of Moseley
Carters of Moseley has an overall philosophy – to be a true expression of British terroir within the moment. Head chef and owner Brad Carter is a Michelin starred chef and has achieved his dream of owning his own restaurant in the form of Carters of Moseley!
The food menus are developed by following the natural rhythms of the seasons, led by currently available ingredients and inspired by producers who work the British landscape.
The restaurant is based on St Mary’s Row in Harborne. Reviews claim that the quality of food is incredible and overall experience is unique and intriguing!
Purnell’s is a chic, contemporary fine-dining restaurant, located on Cornwall Street. The restaurant is run by Michelin Starred chef Glyn Purnell, who also runs Purnell’s Bistro on Newhall Street.
Both al a carte and lunch menus are available, as well as a unique tapas menu. The food is bold and innovative and provides the ultimate gourmet adventures.
The food is described as stunning and the service is highly complimented in recent reviews!
Opheem is a modern, plush eatery offering elevated, modern Indian plates alongside shaken cocktails and wine. The restaurant is run by Aktar Islam, an incredibly talented chef. The menu strives to push the boundaries with Indian flavours, creating unique and amazing meals.
The restaurant is based on Summer Row, and inside the interior is bold, vibrant and warm.
The reviews reflect the incredible restaurant, with the impressive food, amazing service and star quality being repeatedly mentioned.
The Wilderness provides modern British food to excite, provoke and taste delicious. Head chef and owner Alex Claridge believes that British food is bold and takes influence from around the world – a belief which is evident in the exciting and varied menu at The Wilderness.
The restaurant is based on Warstone Lane in the Jewellery Quarter, and has a bold and interesting interior, and even plays classic rock and roll music all day every day – a unique experience in a fine dining establishment.
The reviews highly compliment the restaurant, with it being described as an ultimate dining experience, with astoundingly high-quality food and a chilled-out atmosphere.
