Are You Independent?

July in Birmingham marks the month of ‘Love Your Independents’, celebrating some of Birmingham’s best kept secrets. Honoring such businesses that bring something totally new to the city and have in recent years become the life and soul of Birmingham.

Independents bring something unique, something different, a kind of spirit you don’t find in big retailers! That’s because they ooze passion, determination and talent. They survive purely off communities and their devotion to help one another, and that is something to celebrate!

They’ve reinvented how our city operates through allowing consumers to rediscover their city in a whole new light by shopping locally, exploring fresh innovative ideas / experiences and setting alight the feeling of community and togetherness in Birmingham. There is just something so lovely and inspiring about that.

“Independents add real character and variety to an area, they serve the area well and support it, forming ties within the local community”

Independents have given a whole new meaning and culture to the City Of Birmingham, which is why its so incredible to see them finally get the recognition that they deserve through not only a whole month dedicated to their independence, but also the Independent Birmingham Awards 2019.

“Celebrating Birmingham’s independent culture one hidden gem at a time”
